The Inner Wheel Club of Geraldton has received a grant from the Shire of Chapman Valley to create the Mid West seniors’ directory, providing an array of options for social seniors on a budget. The Shire and City of Greater Geraldton has partnered with the Inner Wheel Club to create the 2024 directory, and local businesses are urged to be included in the expanded resource. The directory will provide information to seniors, helping them stretch their budgets and stay connected to community during retirement, with a $500 grant from the Shire of Chapman Valley to help its production. It will contain a list of businesses, community groups, support services and concession information and will be launched during Seniors Week in November. Inner Wheel Club of Geraldton president Margaret Pike said it was marvellous the Shire of Chapman Valley was partnering with the women’s friendship group to increase opportunities to support seniors in the region. “The Midwest Seniors’ Directory is the fifth edition to be produced,” she said. Chapman Valley Shire president Kirrilee Warr said the Shire was pleased to be a part of the amalgamation as the book expanded outside of Geraldton and into the Mid West. City of Greater Geraldton Mayor Shane Van Styn said Inner Wheel Club of Geraldton members should be congratulated for their persistence in collating resources to support seniors in the community. “We look forward to the launch of the Mid West seniors’ directory at the QEII in November as part of Seniors Week activities,” he said. The organisation is calling on businesses and community groups that wish to be included to get in touch on 0428 312 338 or firstname.lastname@example.org before August 15.
