Victorians could secure themselves a new job in under five minutes as part of a push from McDonald’s to fill 5000 vacant positions in the space of one day.

This Saturday from 9am to 6pm anyone who is eligible to work in the state can head to one of the fast-food chain’s 260 Victorian restaurants and get an on-the-spot five-minute job interview.

It is hoped this hiring blitz will ease the job hunting process by giving potential employees the opportunity to meet a hiring manager instantly without needing to submit an application.

McDonald’s Victorian market director Kelly Nardella said they want to see plenty of people coming through their doors this Saturday.

“We are running the hiring blitz to help us connect with potential employees across the State who may be looking for casual, part time or full-time work,” she said.

“Our restaurants are actively hiring people of all ages and experience levels across a variety of crew, management, barista and maintenance roles.”

Like many businesses, McDonald’s workforce has been impacted by Covid.

The fast food giant confirmed back in January that the opening hours at some of its restaurants had been reduced due to workers being forced into isolation.

But McDonald’s Hastings restaurant manager Rebecca Dikiciyan said she is looking forward to welcoming some new employees to the team.

“Macca’s is a great place to develop important professional skills and make lifelong friendships,” she said.

“We can’t wait to meet potential new employees on Saturday.”

While this five minute hiring blitz is just for one day, McDonald’s said it is always looking for new employees throughout the year.

Potential applicants need to at least be 15 and anyone aged 18 or under needs parental or guardian consent to be employed.
