In round four action on Saturday Forestry hosted Boyup Brook in the grand final rematch and finished up five-wicket winners.

Boyup won the toss and batted, with chief curator Kayne Aitken saying that it was a bowl-first wicket.

Boyup lost an early wicket to Daniel Ward (3-34) but after that there was a solid partnership between Josh Miller (6) and Jason Raven (45) off 44 balls.

Drinks couldn’t come at a better time with the home team off in the field.

Catches were going down and Raven’s scoring was starting to get out of hand.

On came Duncan Wells (3-32) and in a great spell of spin bowling he picked up the important wickets of Raven and all-star belter Tristan Mead (10).

Wells and Braden Gibellini (2-22) slowed Boyup Brook’s scoring rate and with catches now being taken, Forestry looked right on top.

Some resilience came in the way of Todd Carroll (21) but it wasn’t enough as Ward, Andrew Tuthill (1-6) and Connor Ipsen (1-19) contained Boyup Brook to a total of 116.

Forestry’s run chase got off to a brilliant start with Ward (37) and Mat Johnston (29) sharing a 56-run stand, making the job all that harder for Boyup Brook.

A great partnership of bowling from Raven (3-20) and Mead (3-11) shifted the game’s momentum and gave Boyup a sniff of victory but the nightmare from the grand final came back with the hero Tuthill (27) taking the home team past the total helped by some big hitting from Ipsen (24).

The fun then began with second-gamer Ben Farquhar (14) and his “shut eyes and swing” approach, resulting in the ball sailing to all parts of the ground.

Along with young blaster Blake Johnston (40), the pair took the total to 188 before Boyup cleaned up the tail-enders to dismiss Forestry for 192.

This weekend Boyup Brook face Northcliffe at home and Forestry head north for their first away game to continue their rivalry with Bridgetown.
