A Carnarvon man has revealed he was working overtime on a Sunday when he discovered he had won $2.5 million on Saturday Lotto.

The 50-year-old had a ticket for the March 20 $20 million superdraw, and was the sole WA winner out of eight nationwide.

His Slikpik 18 was bought from Carnarvon Lottery News & Gifts.

The man said he was hard at work when a colleague mentioned that someone from Carnarvon had won.

“After I had realised I had won I downed tools and left for the day,” he said.

“I’m going to upgrade my car and boat, set up a trust fund for my daughter and invest the rest – and I’ll never be working overtime again.”

He said that he and his family would celebrate with a seafood dinner and that he would register his winning numbers as future luck when playing Lotto.

Lotterywest spokesperson Hermione Coleman said the next chance for WA players to win big was tonight’s $25 million Oz Lotto jackpot, which is followed by a $30 million Powerball draw on Thursday.

“Million Yeah Saturday is also coming up on 10 April, which gives up to 10 winners the chance to take home $1 million each,” she said.

Tickets can be bought up until 6pm on draw days in-store, online or via the app.
