Norths grab twin success as dominance continues in local A1 men’s hockey

Norths remain odds-on favourites for the Eastern Goldfields Hockey Association’s A1 men’s flag after extending a perfect record last weekend with twin victories.

The squad opened the weekend with a 2-1 win over a gallant YMHC before cruising to a 14th victory at the expense of Mines, 5-2.

Preston Beurteaux scored a hat-trick against Mines, with Matt Souchon and Fynn Moulds chipping in with a goal apiece.

Travis Hunter and Gavin Bailiff were the scorers for the blue-and-whites.

Also last weekend, Pegasus edged CBC, 2-1, on goals to Jonty Cavazzi and Pat Gorman.

Chris Connolly was the scorer for CBC, who retained second spot despite the loss.

Pegasus’ Clint Hoare was best afield.

In the men’s A2 division, Norths posted wins over Mines and YMHC by 6-1 and 5-1 scorelines, and Pegasus battled to a 1-1 draw with CBC.

A2 men:

Norths 40 points; Pegasus 23; CBC 19; YMHC 11; Mines 7.
