A product of WA’s Wheatbelt, Michael Dunstan, is returning to Esperance to launch his debut album.

The singer-songwriter will take In The Grand Scheme to the stage tomorrow at the Cannery Arts Centre.

Dunstan will be supported by locals Car Park Social and Kyza, and Victorian singer-songwriter Pat Devlin.

Cannery Arts Centre music programmer Kyron Smithson said Esperance had watched Dunstan develop from the start of his career.

“He is slowly but surely building and the national tour he is about to embark on in support of his debut full-length album will be the biggest event he has played in town,” he said.

“We have a close working relationship and are good mates as well, so it has been really cool to see his progression over that time.”

This will be the first time Dunstan has performed with the backing of a band. Esperance’s Joseph Franzone will play drums and Devlin will play bass.

They will both join Dunstan on the national tour.

Esperance is the third stop on the west coast leg before he heads across to South Australia and embarks on a nationwide tour.

The three-month trip will include his largest shows to date, in destinations untouched during his multiple laps across the country last year.

Tickets are still available for tomorrow’s show through the Cannery Arts Centre website.
