Harrison Beckell charged with causing death by dangerous driving following alleged horror hit and run in Dry Creek

A man in his 20s has fronted court following an alleged fatal hit-and-run crash in Adelaide’s north, before allegedly leaving the scene of the collision. Harrison Beckell, of Mallala, was charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a crash on the North South Motorway at Dry Creek in the early hours of Sunday. He is also charged with leaving the scene of a crash, driving whilst disqualified and drink driving. A 33-year-old man was taken to hospital following the collision, which happened at around 1.20am. He was pronounced dead hours later. Mr Beckell was then arrested at a property in Andrew’s Farm a short while afterwards. Mr Beckell, 22, appeared at Elizabeth Magistrates Court via video link from custody on Monday. Following a brief hearing, which Mr Beckell’s parents attended in person, he was bailed to the family home. Conditions were also placed on his bail which prevent him from drinking alcohol or driving a vehicle anywhere other than on the family’s private land. He is next due to appear in the dock on June 11 at Adelaide Magistrates Court.
