The Benny Mayhem Band will provide workshops to young music lovers in Cran brook followed by a live concert
Young music lovers in the Great Southern will get the chance to try their hand at an instrument when the Benny Mayhem Band brings their National Youth Music Workshops and Community Concert series to Cranbrook on April 10.
The event will be held at the Cranbrook Town Oval, with free workshops running from 2.30-4pm.
Kids and teenagers are invited to pick up an instrument and have a go, with equipment set up on both the stage and the area in front of it.
Drums, bass, guitar and vocals will all be part of the experience with members of the Benny Mayhem Band offering one-on-one instructions for each instrument.
The workshops aim to give young people a fun, hands-on introduction to music and what it would feel like to perform on a stage.
Kids that attend do not need to have musical experience, with the idea of the workshops being to inspire kids and show them that a professional music career is possible even when starting in their home town or bedroom.
The band have completed these workshops for more than 10 per cent of all WA local government areas and others around Australia in an effort to give real world musical experience to locals.
After the workshops, the band will perform a three-hour free concert from 5.30pm with the community invited.
The band will play their own original music as well as covers from some of the world’s best artists including Oasis, Nirvana, Grinspoon, Johnny Cash, The Ramones, Crowded House and plenty of other favourites.
Their new double album Bootlegs is out now and the recording process will be part of each workshop, as the band continues to tour to every corner of the State.
