Several Great Southern public schools will benefit from funding for renewable energy as part of a program to make them more environmentally friendly.

Katanning Primary School, Katanning Senior High School, Frankland River Primary School, Jerramungup District High School, Dumbleyung Primary School and Wagin District High School have all been successful in their applications for funding under round two of the State Government’s Schools Clean Energy Technology Fund.

Under the $44.6 million program, solar panels would be installed in public schools across the State.

Education Minister Sue Ellery said the schools would benefit from the innovative solar technology.

“I look forward to continuing the rollout of clean energy technologies in our public schools, which is an important piece of the State’s broader transition towards a low carbon future,” she said.
