The Presets take over Geraldton with a DJ set at the Wintersun Hotel, taking some fans by surprise

Australian electronic music duo The Presets made their way to Geraldton’s Wintersun Hotel last Friday night.
Performing in Geraldton for the first time since 2009, Julian Hamilton and Kim Moyes gave their audience a different experience.
They have been touring Western Australia with a DJ set, going from Broome to Duncraig to Geraldton, and ending in Gosnells.
Filling the lawn of the Wintersun Hotel, fans of all ages 18 and above, with beers in hand, were truly buzzing in anticipation of the performance.
Taking to the stage at 9.30pm, The Presets had crowds roaring for their performance.
Stepping behind a DJ deck rather than singing into mics and having instruments in hand, some long-time fans in Geraldton were surprised about what exactly they had paid for.

Known for their singles My People and This Boy’s In Love, they took a different approach from their regular performances.
While they did incorporate some of their most popular songs, including My People and Talk Like That, which had fans screaming, it was an evening that left long-time fans feeling unfulfilled and disappointed.
Although the younger crowd seemed to adore the DJ set, the older fans were dissatisfied with the lack of nostalgia in their performance.

They played Lithium by Nirvana and ended the set with Killing In The Name by Rage Against The Machine.
Hamilton and Moyes met in the early 2000s and have been making music ever since.
This may just be a change in direction some audience members weren’t ready for.
