Following on from their ultra-exclusive musical experience under the spectacle of the total solar eclipse, British band Pink Floyd have revealed they will be releasing a documentary about the event in September.

The band released a teaser trailer on May 27, as it celebrates the 50th anniversary of their album The Dark Side of the Moon.

Pink Floyd marked the eclipse in the Gascoyne on April 20 with a special event which saw eight fans gather around a mysterious black pyramid on a secluded beach near Exmouth to listen to the album, timed perfectly so that the final lines of the album “but the sun is eclipsed by the moon” would play just as the moon perfectly covered the sun.

The documentary will focus not only the event but also “the impact of the eclipse on the community of Exmouth”, the band has said.

Exmouth Shire president Darlene Allston said she was excited to see her hometown’s “unique slice of paradise” showcased to the world.

“We’ve been very excited about the opportunity to participate and enable such a groundbreaking documentary and be part of international music history during the total solar eclipse,” Ms Allston said.

“By combining the awe-inspiring visuals of the total solar eclipse with the power of music, this documentary has the ability to inspire and uplift audiences in ways that few other films can, and we are looking forward to its full release in September.”
