Northampton Agricultural Society celebrates its 107th show day in style, showcasing the best of the region

Despite the clash with football grand finals in Geraldton, thousands still turned out for the Northampton Show. The Northampton District Agricultural Society held its 107th annual show on Saturday, a celebration of agricultural and rural life in the region. Held at the Northampton Community Centre the show included outdoor displays, markets and food vans around the grounds with sideshow alley, equestrian events and the main stage on the oval. The day showcased the best Northampton and surrounds have to offer in produce, arts, crafts and agriculture. Society secretary Michelle Marshall estimated a crowd of more than 3000 turned out for the day. She said she was “thrilled” with the patronage. “Our exhibition hall was absolutely chockers. We probably couldn’t have got much more in there. It’s such a great day, so we’re looking forward to bigger and better for next year,” she said. Over in the ram shed, Mulga Springs won grand champion merino ewe and Walkindyer Stud took the sash for the grand champion merino ram. Judge Terry Ash said: “His wool would be as good a wool as you’d see in any show, anywhere in the State. He has absolutely brilliant wool, so well nourished, something that this district needs plenty of and it’s certainly there. It’s fantastic.” Freestyle Moto X riders wowed the crowd with high-octane aerial displays throughout the day. The show closed out the day with a fireworks display and music by the Damien Cripps band.
