WA Community Services Minister Simone McGurk visited the recovery centre at Northampton RSL Memorial Hall on Wednesday.

Government agencies Western Power, the Department of Fire and Emergency Services, the Department of Communities and groups such as Red Cross, Food Bank WA and the Salvation Army all assisted residents.

“What an incredible effort by government agencies and partner organisations,” Ms McGurk said.

“They’ve been assisting 60-100 people a day with emergency accommodation, food hampers, restoring power to homes, keeping safe and community outreach.

“Thanks to everyone involved in running this welcoming centre, including Red Cross volunteers Regina and Gordon, who came all the way from Queensland to help out.”
