Morawa’s Peter Katona wins Production Sizzle at Geraldton City Speedway

Geraldton has welcomed the new year with a roar of engines.

The Geraldton City Speedway held its 22nd annual Production Sizzle last Saturday and Sunday, with a driver from the region taking out the main event.

Morawa-based racer Peter Katona won the production division, ahead of Mitch Baker and Jack McAuley.

The club said the drivers put on a show.

“Our drivers didn’t hold anything back,” it said.

“Peter (Katona) worked at it, putting on a unbelievable show for the crowd and driving it like he stole it.

“All of the races had spectators on the edge of their seats and unable to take their eyes off the track.

“We are so proud of each one of them for going out there and trying their best, representing our club and hopefully having a lot of fun.”

In the Junior F125s, Hailee Berry beat Hannah and Mahali Berry to take the checkered flag.

Peter Harris was the Senior F125 winner, beating Daniel Berry and Lisa Patmore.

Daniel Guy, Mark Shepherd and Lance Beaver came first, second and third in the Super Mods.

Jack Dalton was the winner in the Limited Sprintcars, ahead of Nathan Davis and Matthew Peaker.

Moira Skeet, Craig Lenane and Jason Walsh were Hard Charger winners, each gaining nine places.

Jack McAuley won Best Presented and Ricky Williams won the Hard Luck award.
