If one of your car’s windows gets smashed to pieces in your driveway, you would probably expect to hear something if you’re home.

But a Mt Tarcoola couple say “calculated” thieves must have hardly made a noise when they broke into two cars on Mark Way in the early hours of Friday morning.

Isoa Dakunimata said he and his wife were wide awake in their lounge room while criminals smashed the driver’s side window of their Volkswagen.

The couple were entertaining friends and didn’t notice anything was wrong until the group walked outside to say goodbye.

Their friend’s Toyota Prado was also broken into on the passenger’s side window.

Mr Dakunimata said his wife was left shaken by the incident.

“It’s very frustrating,” he said.

“You don’t think it will happen to you. You read about it on Facebook.

“This seems to be happening everywhere in Geraldton.”

Mr Dakunimata said no one in the neighbourhood saw anything suspicious.

“They were experts. It’s not their first gig, I think we would have heard something,” he said.

“I walked next door to check the neighbour’s place to see if they had done a number on the whole street. But it was just our house.”

Mr Dakunimata’s wallet was stolen, containing bankcards and IDs he needed for work.

He said it was disappointing police didn’t attend the scene to collect evidence.

“You’d think they would come out here, but they just gave us a report number,” he said.
