Injured climber rescued from Mt Arapiles

A man has been injured while rock climbing at Mt Arapiles near Horsham in Victoria.

The 67-year-old fell and suffered a head injury about 2.30pm Thursday, before getting stuck on a high ledge at the iconic climbing spot.

Three of his climbing partners also needed help to get off the rock face.

State Emergency Service volunteers from Stawell, Ararat and Horsham worked with the Country Fire Authority to free the climbers.

A high angle rescue team reached the injured climber at 4.47pm and he was examined by paramedics.

The SES is warning that Arapiles is an extremely challenging area even for experienced climbers.
