Psychiatric patient dies, another under police guard

A psychiatric patient is dead and another is under police guard after an incident at a mental health facility.

Homicide detectives are investigating the alleged altercation at a hospital on the corner of Myers and Swanston streets in Geelong at 2am on Monday.

Emergency services found the body of a man, who is yet to be formally identified, inside a room at that facility.

Another man, also a patient at the hospital, is currently under police guard.

Police say the men were known to each other.
