Kenneth Giles: Partner of alleged fugitive issues bizarre statement pleading ‘sexy bush critter’ to come home

The partner and alleged victim of a Mullewa gunman who has been on the run for nearly a fortnight has issued a bizarre statement, pleading for her “sexy bush critter” to turn himself in and “come home”. Kenneth John Giles is accused of shooting Tanya Moran in the hand at a property on Urawa Road, Mullewa, on January 7 before fleeing the scene in his Nissan patrol utility. He has not been seen since. Ms Moran suffered non-life threatening injuries and was rushed to Geraldton Regional Hospital before being transported to Royal Perth Hospital for corrective surgery. Ms Moran issued a statement on Monday professing her love for the 58-year-old, saying he had promised they would “grow old very disgracefully together”. She begged him to make contact and questioned, “where the bloody hell are you”. “BIG SHOUT OUT to Kenneth John Giles AKA my sexy bush critter,” she told 9NEWS. “Six years ago we were too old to be each other’s firsts, yet old as we are, we have been so lucky to share many firsts together thus far. “We swore we were each other’s forever, and we would grow old very disgracefully together, no doubt entertaining ourselves by embarrassing all our kids along the way. “You are so loved, not only by me but so many family and friends, we need to know you’re alright. “WTF babe, please come home or reach out??? So where the bloody hell are you my love???” Ms Moran made reference to Toy Story character Buzz Lightyear — a superhero action figure who has the iconic catchphrase, “To infinity and beyond”. “This feral womanly thing needs her rough tough sexy bush critter home, her Buzz back, you promised infinity and beyond, remember,” she said. Acting Superintendent of the Mid West-Gascoyne District Ben Huggett made a direct appeal for Mr Giles to hand himself in last week. “This has gone on long enough,” he said at the time. “You must be uncomfortable out there. You must be anxious, which is why we want to help you end this safely and peacefully. “We do not want anyone else to get hurt.” Police confirmed multiple shots were fired during the alleged incident, which was reportedly sparked when Mr Giles attended a family gathering he was not invited to. Two children, another man and an older woman were also at the property at the time. Acting Supt. Huggett said he believed Mr Giles was still in the Mid West-Gascoyne region, but had not ruled out whether he had fled interstate. He said 17 firearms had been seized from multiple properties, adding that Mr Giles did not hold a firearm license. “We are exploring all options, including that he’s left the State,” he said. “We believe that he is most likely still within Western Australia and still within the Mid West-Gascoyne, which is why we are concentrating our efforts extensively to this region.” Last week, police scaled back their manhunt, with specialist groups like the airwing and tactical response group no longer actively involved. Mr Giles has been described as an experienced bushman with extensive knowledge of the area.
