A police officer is in a stable condition after being deliberately struck by a driver in a stolen car while doing speed checks in southern Brisbane.

Police said the officer had been conducting random speed checks on Orange Grove Rd in Salisbury about 6.30am on Wednesday.

Bodycam vision showed the officer stepping onto the road to flag down a car when the vehicle then steered towards him.

The officer was taken to the Princess Alexandra Hospital.

"We know who you are. Do the right thing and surrender to police," Detective Inspector Michael Manago told reporters on Wednesday.

Det Insp Manago said the white Mercedes C250 sedan was stolen from a Bardon address last week and was found a short time later abandoned on Eaton Place in Wishart.

Police expect to charge the pair with a string of property offences when found, and said they'd consider attempted murder.

"No one in the QPS goes to work at the start of the shift and expects to end up in hospital," Det Insp Manago added.

"So it's upsetting and confronting but we'll continue to support that member throughout the course of his recovery."
