A Ballajura family has been left shaken after their car was set alight outside their home in the early hours of Friday morning.
Police are investigating after two hooded people attacked a seemingly innocuously parked Volkswagen car out the front of a home in a normally quiet cul-de-sac.
CCTV of the incident shows a white sedan drive around the end of the cul-de-sac about 2.20am before quickly leaving.
Nearly 20 minutes later the sedan returns and two people wearing hoods exit before moving quickly to the car parked in front of a house off the road.
They appear to pour liquid on the car and light it, causing a huge burst of flames just metres from the front door of a house with four people inside.
The hooded vandals then run back to their sedan and speed off. Emergency services crews arrived about 10 minutes later.
The car was a burnt-out wreck from the incident.
The owner of the house said she had no idea why her house was targeted, and no idea who the people were.
One neighbour, who did not want to be named, said she awoke to a loud, scary noise.
“I heard a very big and massive noise first and then I heard the car escaping and driving too fast and I was really scared,” she said.
She said the incident was out of character for the street.
“They are a very good family, they are very quiet, they are very respectful, I don’t know what’s happening,” the neighbour said.
“This street is a very quiet street, everyone know each other and it’s a very nice area.”
Midland Police are conducting investigations into the identities of the people involved and the motivation behind the attack.
