26-year-old man charged over July 29 Bayswater shed fire at not-for-profit community group

Arson squad detectives have charged a man accused of setting a shed on fire at a not-for-profit community group in Bayswater last week.

The 26-year-old allegedly started the blaze about 1.20am on Thursday July 29 after entering the rear yard of the community group on Beechboro Road South.

The damage he allegedly caused to the shed, which was uninsured, is estimated at $40,000.

In a statement released by police it was further alleged the Bayswater man then went on to slash the tyres of several vehicles parked on Avenell Road, Bayswater.

He has been charged with criminal damage by fire, disorderly behaviour in a police station and five counts of criminal damage or destruction of property.

He will face Perth Magistrate’s Court today, however, the investigation is ongoing.
