A 33-year-old man has been accused of stalking and threatening 20 women he interacted with on dating sites in Perth, as well as harassing some of their family members online.

Police say the man purported to be looking for a relationship and his encounters with the women began innocently before he started seeking deeply personal information and intimate images from them.

Over a short period of time, he allegedly messaged the women more than 100 times a day and became increasingly threatening.

When the women tried to end contact with him, he allegedly stalked them via social media, pay phones and encrypted message applications.

He even used false names and multiple phone numbers, police say.

The man is also accused of contacting family members of some victims, threatening to hurt them and release intimate images of the victim to them.

His offending is alleged to have happened between January 2018 and May this year.

The man has been charged with 23 offences, including aggravated stalking, threats and common assault.
