Busselton Swimming Club achieved a strong set of results when it sent eight swimmers to the 2024 Australian Age Championships on the Gold Coast last week.

Violet Reynolds, Pamoana Pirikahu, Madison Rayne, Lily O’Meara, Archie O’Beirne, Brooklyn Rayne, Marcus van Rooyen, and Rebecca Camm represented the club on the national stage, with support from coach Andrew Sexton.

Some of the standout results included van Rooyen finishing ninth in the country in the 14-year-old boys’ 200m breaststroke, and 13th in the 100m breaststroke; and Brooklyn Rayne finishing 16th in the 14-year-old girls’ 50m freestyle.

The club’s 13 to 17-year-old 4x50m freestyle relay team, comprising Brooklyn and Madison Rayne, O’Meara and Reynolds, finished 18th, while O’Beirne, Reynolds and Pirikahu were among the swimmers to post individual personal bests.

Sexton said he was delighted with the team’s performance.
