The Hawks then went to war in the second half, kicking a further eight goals. The Yardgee Dockers failed to make their shots at goal count, scoring four goals and letting the Hawks soar to victory by 34 points, 13.7 (85) to 7.9 (51).

The Yardgee Dockers will now have to fight it out with the Kururrungku Roos next round in the preliminary final to see who will face down the Halls Creek Hawks in the grand final on Saturday, August 20..

Meanwhile, the Kururrungku Roos stole the hopes of a premiership finish out from under the Yiyili Powers in the semifinal at Halls Creek Oval on Saturday afternoon.

The first half was neck-and-neck, with both teams finishing the first term with 15 points apiece and the Yiyili Powers leading by just a single point at half-time.

But as the match headed into the pointy end the Roos showed they meant business, kicking four goals in the third term while the Powers failed to score a goal, missing their opportunities at the big sticks.

The Yiyili side started to close the gap in the last term, kicking three goals but it wasn’t enough to catch the Kururrungku team who slotted three goals themselves, putting them well and truly in the leading position to win the match, 13.11 (89) to 8.11 (59).

The Yiyili Powers will now hang up the boots until next season while the the Kururrungku Roos prepare to face the Yardgee Dockers in the preliminary final next week.
