They might have had an extra week’s rest with a bye in round nine, but the Fossils did not miss a beat in round 10 of mixed netball competition.

Fossils took on the Wobbly Nurrahs last Monday when they were quick to build an early lead during the opening quarter.

The Nurrahs tried to keep up early, getting ready for any rebounds so they could drive the ball down to their goal circle.

However, they struggled to convert against the Fossils’ strong defence, who went on to lead 4-1 at quarter-time.

The Nurrahs fought to come back in the second quarter as Fossils continued to step up in defence.

The contest soon became a tug of war when scores were brought level.

A last-gasp goal saw the Fossils lead by one goal at half-time.

After the main break, the Fossils began to break away as shooters Christie Milenkovic and Strett Dearle showed more and more consistency in goals.

The Nurrahs, however, still brought the fight as they tried their hardest to get the ball back wherever they could.

But the Fossils would hold on to lead 13-10 at the final change.

Desperation for a victory came to a head in the final as gameplay became frantic.

But the Fossils kept their cool under pressure and extended their lead further to take the win 19-12.
