Players from the Kimberley were thin on the ground in round 16 of AFL with some being out due to injury and others sitting on the sub bench.

But Derby’s Callum Ah Chee made an appearance in the Brisbane Lions win against the Western Bulldogs at the Gabba on Thursday night.

Ah Chee got an impressive 20 disposals for his Brisbane team.

The Lions had a slow start, letting the Bulldogs take the lead in the first quarter, before catching up in the second term but still trailing by the end of the first half.

The Fremantle Dockers defeated Port Adelaide Power after a close match at Optus Stadium in Perth on Sunday afternoon.

Broome’s Bailey Banfield was back as the Dockers sub this round but managed to get a run in the last quarter, replacing Matt Taberner at half-forward in the last quarter, but only managed four disposals in his short time on the ground.

The West Coast Eagles suffered yet another loss, this time at the hands of Richmond at the MCG on Sunday afternoon.

But the Eagles made improvements, closing the margin this time round.

Despite West Coast’s improvements and gains in the second half of the match the Tigers still managed to dominate the Eagles and win by 35 points, 20.8 (128) to 13.15 (93).

Unfortunately there was no sign of Broome’s Jack Martin for Carlton in their loss against St Kilda or Halls Creek’s Shane McAdam for Adelaide in their loss to Melbourne, as he is still recovering from injuring his foot last round.

Fellow Halls Creek product Jy Farrar was also off the Gold Coast Suns line-up this round due to the AFL’s health and safety protocols.
