A bevy of tourism events have scored funding from Tourism WA’s annual regional events scheme.

Although specific funding amounts were deemed confidential, a Tourism WA spokeswoman said the investment was focused on “generating millions for local economies and creating jobs for regional communities”.

A big chunk of the region’s events calendar was cited in the latest round, with recipients including Margaret River’s Open Studios, the Strings Attached guitar festival, CinefestOz, the Margaret River Wine Association’s Fine Vines festival, the Readers and Writers Festival, Busselton Jetty Swim and the South West Craft Beer Festival.

“The State Government, through Tourism WA, has been proud to commit $1 million to 68 events overall through the regional events scheme for the next financial year, including 32 events across the South West and Great Southern,” a spokesperson said.

Warren-Blackwood MLA Jane Kelsbie lauded the funding.

“The scheme supports regional events across WA, supporting our community to host vibrant and exciting events, supporting local jobs and attracting more visitors to our region,” Ms Kelsbie said.

Applications for 2023-24 open on August 23.
