A massive saltwater crocodile has been spotted near a boat ramp in the State’s north, spurring patrols and causing a beach to close. A 2.8-metre estuarine crocodile crocodile was sighted within 100 metres of Bundegi Boat Ramp in Exmouth at 2.30pm on Monday afternoon, causing authorities to close the beach between Jurabi Turtle Centre and Exmouth Marina. DPAW Exmouth wildlife officer Michael Cox said while the crocodile had not yet been seen since the original sighting, aerial, ground and water patrols were continuing in the area. The Department of Parks and Wildlife issued a warning with a reminder that, “Crocs move around, Crocs are deadly – BE CROCWISE. You are responsible for your own safety.” To assist in the management of crocodiles, if a crocodile is observed demonstrating dangerous behaviour, or people are harassing or feeding crocodiles reports are to be made to the Parks and Wildlife Service Exmouth office on (08) 9182 2088.
