Astute retirees are recognising there is currently a lot of gains to be made by selling their home and downsizing to an over-55s community, according to a leading retirement living provider.

MYVISTA Mirrabooka Retirement Apartments is reporting some residents have seized the opportunity to sell in Perth’s strong property market and move to an apartment in the new complex while potentially freeing up capital to spend on enjoying life.

Seniors Own Real Estate Sales Associate Caryl Sutrisno said the timing could not be better for people wanting to make the move.

“While new builds and renovations are currently very expensive and taking a long time to complete due to trade and material shortages, these apartments are ready to move into and enjoy right now,” she said.

“Family homes are often selling after the first week on the market, now is the time to act.”

Available on lease-for-life terms, each well-finished apartment features two or three bedrooms, two bathrooms, stylish finishes and a large balcony.

There is also a kitchen with stone benchtops, an induction stove, an accessible wall oven and a dual-drawer dishwasher, as well as a separate laundry and ample storage throughout.

Parking is located in the building and there are two charging bays for electric vehicles.

Ms Sutrisno said MYVISTA Mirrabooka Retirement Apartments differed from regular apartment complexes through some important design features and its location, which is above a thriving medical precinct and next to MYVISTA’s highly regarded residential aged care facility.

“Apartment residents have peace of mind knowing they can retain control of their lives as they age, because where they live is physically secure and will be easy to move around in even if they one day use a mobility aid,” she said.

MYVISTA offers a range of fee-for-service extras, including meal delivery, laundry, and cleaning and maintenance from its neighbouring aged care facility should residents need a bit of extra help down the track.

It can also support individuals who have the Federal Government’s Home Care Packages.

Residents can access health and personal care from the independently operated medical practice, the physiotherapy clinic with a gym and a hydrotherapy pool, a pharmacy and a hairdresser located on the ground floor.

MYVISTA CEO Irene Mooney said the complex was designed with positive ageing in mind.

“We know that people love living in the apartments and enjoy making new friends within the complex but, importantly, they appreciate knowing that we will be here for them as they age, so they can continue to enjoy life and maintain their independence,” she said.

“We all get older and need a little more help with things. It’s great if family members can step in, but that’s not always possible – or at least not every day.

“Often little things like being able to have a hot dinner dropped off or bulky bedsheets washed and returned for you can make a big difference to how you manage ageing and maintaining your independence, and this is all certainly possible here at MYVISTA Mirrabooka.”
