Scarborough is getting a sit-down pizza joint. General Public Food Co opens on Monday, offering specialty sourdough pizzas, sides and salads for lunch and dinner, seven days a week. A coffee window will be open each morning serving takeaway coffee and baked goods. It’s the brainchild of locals Evan and Sarah Hewitt, who were aware of residents’ desire for a restaurant and bar. There will be a range of rotating local craft beers on tap, with the option of getting a growler of beer for the table. Evan found the interest in craft beer was growing in Perth but not many venues were “catering for sophisticated beer drinkers at the same depth wine drinkers receive”. To celebrate its opening, General Public will offer $5 pizza with any schooner of beer or glass of wine purchased from April 1-4, dine-in only, limit one per customer.

Harvey Leigh’s Public House in Highgate will tomorrow host The Great Duck & Pinot Dinner. For $90 per person, enjoy a three course meal featuring Adelaide Hills CRFT pinot noirs, hosted by sommelier Dan Wegener. CRFT wines specialise in small-batch, single vineyard wines. To book phone 6478 0920.
