It’s another low level night of entertainment as Amber and Dean rehash the same conversation they’ve been having for weeks, but while our guard is down, Angelo steals the show.

Things kick off with Dean going on about Amber ignoring his calls even though Dean should be the one that’s upset because he’s not allowed to tell him mum about his son, Jai.

Meanwhile the sexy R&B music starts up and Taylor seductively sips her coffee while starting at Colby in the diner.

However Angelo walks in and spoils the mood and in a strange twist of events invites Colby to eat with him and Taylor.

Naturally Colby makes up some excuse not to join them but the strangest bit is that Colby smiles and it must be the first time I’ve even seen him smile — it’s not a good look for him.

Angelo and Taylor are sitting down for another leisurely coffee break and Angelo mentions that he’s had a breakthrough with the case.

Both my ears and Taylor’s ears are at attention as Angelo explains that a witness has come forward.

“They’ve confirmed everything I thought all along, Colby Throne killed Ross Nixon,” Angelo says.

Angelo praises his own police work and I’m not sure if he actually has evidence or he’s just playing his own wife so she tells Colby and he goes into peak panic mode.

It appears to be the latter.

Colby and Taylor meet up at their secret beach location and he repeatedly tells her “I’m not a murderer” to put her at ease before they kiss.

It’s also not the first time talk of murder is followed by a quick make out session, but that’s Home and Away logic for you.

While their not-so-secret affair is going on, someone snaps photos. I assumed it was Bella back at her old tricks but to my complete shock its Angelo.

Taylor is summoned to coffee at Salt with Angelo.

He asks about her night and presents her with a diamond necklace.

“You didn’t have to do this,” Taylor says.

Why does everyone say that when they’re given a gift?

Angelo doesn’t display an ounce of emotion towards Taylor, which could be his bad acting rather than than the script, but I’ll give him the benefit of the doubt on this occasion.

Then Angelo excuses himself to probably obsess over Colby but in a shock twist he has planted a listening device into the necklace which must be illegal on so many levels but I love it.

Back to Amber who eventually surfaces. It doesn’t look like she’s been on a bender, but maybe it would have been more engaging if she was severely hungover as she’s slapped with threats to take legal action to get custody of Jai.

Francesca, Amber’s mum who hates being called Franny so I’m going to call her Franny, storms into Dean’s house – presumably because the door was open as per usual – and the episode comes to a close with a classic Home and Away cliffhanger threat.

“I’m going to make sure you never see Jai again,” Franny says to Dean.

Also Bella gets straight to guilt tripping Nikau into staying in Summer Bay after he broke the news to her that Gemma wants him to come home to New Zealand.

Nikau asks Colby to lift the travel ban on his passport and Colby is actually going to help even though he was the one who banned Nikau and his family from leaving the country in the first place due to a hunch that Nik broke into the diner many moons ago.

But for now it seems that story line is being dropped and just like her brother, Bella decided to enjoy what could be her last days/weeks with her boyfriend.
