Home and Away star Lynne McGranger has shared a heartfelt tribute to Australian actor Dieter Brummer, after his passing over the weekend.

Brummer — who is regarded as one of Home and Away’s most popular heartthrobs thanks to his appearance on the show in the 90s — was found dead inside his north-western Sydney home on Saturday, with police confirming yesterday that they had responded to a welfare concern.

“The body of a man was located inside the home,” a NSW police spokesperson said in a statement.

“His death is not believed to be suspicious.”

The Australian entertainment industry was left in shock yesterday, with Home and Away’s longest-serving female cast member McGranger taking to Twitter to encourage people to “please reach out”.

“Ask if people are doing ok,” she wrote.

“And tell someone if YOURE not ok! Yell over the fence, call, msg, Facebook, whatever it takes (sic).

“I’m no expert but surely sharing your fears, anxieties, dark thoughts must help lessen their impact. God bless DB fly high (sic).”

English soap opera actor Michelle Hardwick responded with a tweet “sending love to you all Lyne. Such sad news (sic).”

“I got such a shock waking up, scrolling Facebook news feed to read this tragic news, it brought tears to my eyes,” one user responded.

“It seems strange to have such a reaction to someone I never knew. Such memories of my childhood watching him on the show. Things like this certainly make you think.”

Australian Actor and model Scott McGregor tweeted “Rest In Peace old mate. Such a special human. I’ll never forget our motorbike weekend.”
