Venus bags up multiple samples at Gascoyne nickel-copper play

Venus Metals has bagged up 1500 soil samples and 58 rock chips that it will now lab test for nickel, copper, rare earths, gold, platinum, lithium and related minerals at its Managaroon north project in the Gascoyne region of WA. The samples have since been submitted for the multi-element analysis and the company is planning a follow-up program based on the results.

The samples were taken from gossanous outcrops, pegmatites and quartz veins.

Specimens from the 58-suite rock chip sampling program are currently being analysed for gold, platinum group elements, rare earth elements, lithium, cesium, tantalum and niobium.

The company says it will use the results of the sampling program to prioritise potential target areas for additional work and it has earmarked a detailed follow-up program that includes sampling, ground geophysical surveys and drilling.

Interestingly, two of Venus Metals’ project tenements border Dreadnought Resources’ and First Quantum Minerals’ Mangaroon project that is considered prospective for nickel, copper, platinum group elements, rare earth elements and high-grade gold mineralisation.

Dreadnaught recently reported a gossanous outcrop at its neighbouring project that stretches over 1 kilometre of strike. Subsequent rock chip sampling delivered 1.0 per cent copper, 0.6 per cent nickel, 0.04 per cent cobalt and 0.3 grams per tonne platinum, palladium plus gold. The outcrop is around 3km east of Venus’ project area.

Venus says several geological features across the company’s tenure are considered highly prospective for magmatic nickel, copper, platinum and palladium mineralisation. The company says these features are also considered prospective for high-grade gold mineralisation along strike of the historical high-grade Star of Mangaroon gold mine.

The Mangaroon project area has been virtually unexplored for around 40 years.

As Venus Metals accelerates its exploration campaign in the Gascoyne region of WA, promising signs are beginning to emerge. With a solid suite of prospective minerals to go after and a tenement that borders areas of historical high-grade gold acquisition, the company’s recent exploits might start to turn a few heads as the drill bit starts spinning.
